Now the first season ended on July 9 showing Izumi and Shikamori going on a date in the final episode. As a season finale many fans expected more but episode 12 didn’t really bring out anything more in their relationship. Although the signs are all there that the anime series will return for another season as of July 9. Shikimori’s not just a cutie has not yet been publicly renewed for season 2 by studio Dogo Cobo. There hasn’t been any trailer or key visuals yet but with the source material remaining the chances of getting a second season is very high. In the first season episode 12 has concluded by adapting up until the final chapter from volume seven of the original manga written by kiko maki. Till now there are 14 complete Tankabin volumes have been published in Japan. Meaning that there is actually enough source material for Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie season 2 straight away. Not to mention that the anime also gave a significant boost to manga sales domestically in Japan with Arikan listing the series within their top 20 rankings for April 2022. When the anime first premiered so despite some slightly underwhelming scores and reviews Shikimori’s not just a cutie should also prove popular enough to get a second Season.
Interestingly there is a special TV event for the anime scheduled for November 20th. So it is most likely to hear more information about the series’s return and eventual release date. Then as it is already mentioned that the Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie first season adapted till volume seven. So it is highly possible that the second season will adapt till volume 14 which means season two will explore more on Izumi and Shikimori’s relationship than the people surrounding them. A lot of events take place in the manga and there are some genuinely good moments which are sure to bring out joy. So now just we have to wait if the next season can deliver what we desire.
